Does your pre-sport preparation only involve buying the latest kit?
No surprises that you may feel a little sore after your first few games. When beginning any new sport, or returning to a particular sport after a break, it is important to make sure that your body is in its optimum condition to avoid injury and enhance your performance. This holds true whether you play competitively or just for enjoyment.
We've put together some pointers and exercises that can help you to start the season safely and hopefully keep you playing injury free. For you weekend warriors sitting at your desk all day, we've also included a helpful At work section to keep your body from stiffening up during the working week.
Of course if you're in any way concerned about any niggling pains or soreness, then do come and see us for an assessment before you start. We'd much rather treat you now to avoid an injury later.
We also stock a wide range of products to strengthen and prepare your body, such as Swiss exercise balls, resistance bands, wobble boards, massage tools, sports tape, joint supports and orthotic insoles.
Please remember that all the exercises within this section are a guide only. If you feel pain at any time or are unsure of the exercise please contact Sprint Physiotherapy Ltd or your physiotherapist. Sprint Physiotherapy Ltd does not accept any responsibility for exercises performed incorrectly or for the outcome of any of the exercises listed here.
